Boxing Day (the day immediately following Christmas Day) is notorious for being a slow day. However, it’s also a great day to give you all a roundup of the first blog mini-theme. It took a little longer than expected, but the series is finally complete:
Theme: Blog Overhaul
You can view the 4 posts in this series below:
- Introduction to Theme
- Profiling My Blog
- What’s Interal Linking all about
- Social Networking for Blogs
In those 4 articles, I touched upon a number of issues, including an overview of what I wanted to achieve, a video article by Problogger (1st post), a look at my blog’s efficiency and the user experience (2nd post), a look at the importance of internal linking structure for search engines (3rd post), and finally a preview of the various social networking methods that could be used for blogs (4th post).
I have by no means covered everything (blog design for example). but to help you out a little more, I have listed below a few related posts I have written on this blog, although they were not written specifically as part of the theme:
- Dealing with Duplicate Content
- Monitoring Server Loads
- Wordpress optimisation techniques
- RSS Coverage, Feedvertising
- Effective Spam Fighting
- Wordpress Admin Resources
And one final tip before the day comes to a close (in around 29 minutes according to the clock). Make sure you utilise your 404 error pages, and empty search result page real-estate. Maybe introduce the reader to some of your favorite web apps, or give them an offer for a product of yours. I’ve yet to make full use of this myself, although I have made a start on promoting OIOpublisher through these pages.
Now, I just have to figure out what the next topic (the first of 2008) will be….any ideas?
