March Newsletter
Published by Simon on March 15th, 2008It seems like it’s been a while since I last sent out a newsletter, which is because it has been! Last month I started a new job in London, and have been busy getting to know the UK philanthropy market. However, OIOpublisher is still on track to fulfill its potential, with a couple of interesting partnerships on the way.
Before I go into more details on that though, there are a couple of other things to mention:
1.) There was a bug found in the tracker module last week, which now looks to have been resolved. I’d advise everyone to upgrade to v1.04 of the tracker, in order to make sure archived results aren’t duplicated:

2.) The affiliate system has been given a re-vamp. As well as tracking all signups under your affiliate link, and sales data, you can now see an overview of all clicks into your link, and conversion rates.
On top of that, affiliate traffic is now re-directed to a landing page. Please take a minute to look over it, and offer feedback and constructive criticism. I’m not an expert on sales pages by far! Remember, you can earn 50% of all $37 puchases.

And now, some more details on the OIOpublisher partnerships. First off, I’m currently working with Colin of viralking.com to produce a new ad network, only for blogs. Yes, I know, “not another ad network” - but this one has 2 distinctive features.
It will be fully integrated with OIOpublisher. There will be a 1-click install to add your blog to the publisher database, and ad spaces unsold directly will be automatically filled by the ad network. Initially, it will be a CPC model, meaning everyone has a chance to earn with OIO from day one.
The site will also feature a “viral” element, to encourage and reward publisher activity. However, it’s not based on an MLM system, and everyone will be able to use paypal!
Another recent Wordpress startup is wpauctions.com, and I’ve been talking to the owner about integrating our 2 systems. WP-Auctions will handle the auctioning of adspace, and OIO will then automatically handle ad management.
WP-Auctions is a fantastic idea, and I’ve no doubt it will take off. It’s still in the early stages (some big improvements are due to be rolled out shortly), but it’s definitely one of the most useful widgets you’ll ever come across!
